The Pros and Cons of Wearing a Short Skirt

If you are interested in wearing a short skirt in the work place, there are some pointers and suggestions that you should keep in mind. In many offices and other places of employment in todays works, the wearing of a short skirt is generally acceptable. But, each work place has a different culture and set of guidelines -- written and unwritten -- when it comes to clothing items that acceptably can be worn in the workplace. When you make clothing decisions, you do need to pay attention to the guidelines -- again, both written and unwritten -- that may impact your clothing decisions.

First of all, you need to keep on mind that a short skirt is a casual clothing statement. There are some offices in which wearing casual clothing simply is not appropriate. While there is a great deal of leeway when it comes to fashion today, you do need to respect the expectations of your employers and the needs of your customers or clients when you are making decisions as to what to wear to work. Therefore, if you do work in an environment in which more subdued and less casual clothing is necessary, you might want to forgo wearing a shorter skirt to work.

When it comes to your work and your job, you likely will want to be taken seriously. There is a long used catch-phrase that suggests that clothing makes the man or woman. Right or wrong, we are judged on some level by what we wear. Many people actually do select certain clothing items in order to make some sort of statement along the way. Therefore, as you consider whether or not to wear a short skirt to work, you will need to contemplate what kind of message you will send and what kind of statement you will make by wearing a short skirt in the workplace.
